Samuel Kouakou Okona Bosompem (born May 27, 1992) also known by his stage name Sam Okona (also known as LE PHILOSOF) is an English-French & Twi speaking language Rap Artist (Rapper), Singer, Songwriter, Philosopher, Activist, Freedom Fighter, Egalitarian, illuminator and a Typist from Africa, born in Abidjan, Treichville, schooled in Ghana and spent most of his time in Abidjan during school vacations and holidays. He has been influenced by great rappers like 2Pac, Eminem, Lil Wayne, T.I, Bone Thugs & Harmony, Three 6 Mafia, Nelly, Soulja Boy, Big Sean, Fabolous, Pusha T, YG, 6ix9ine, Kiff-No-Beat and on the other-hand side he's being influenced by great musicians like Lucky Dube, Don Williams, Bryan Adams, James Blunt, Phil Collins, Josey and the Legendary Ghanaian rapper Okyeame Kwame. Aside that, he's been inspired by the great French Philosopher Voltaire. Sam Okona is a performer of Afro-house Music, Afropop, Hip-Hip and the fusion of Country Music and Rap Music. Sam Okona is also well-knowned for his lyrical contents and rhymes, especially the combination of English, French & Twi to sing and to rap in his songs, making him one of the best Indie Artiste of his time envisioned or to be discovered ahead of the African continent, simply being versatile.
If you haven't noticed already, Sam Okona really really likes to do philosophy and music! Sam Okona has been working as an underground artist in the music industry since 2009 in high school. For more than twelve years, he has been loyal to music before getting engaged to philosophy, egalitarianism and business. The themes of most of Sam Okona's songs revolved around the violence and hardship in inner cities and other social problems.
MUSIC CAREER
Sam Okona started writing his own raps during his school days as young as a kid at the age of 14 years when he was in grade 8 at Nazareth Preparatory Junior Secondary School (Nazareth JSS) in the Western Region of Ghana. Soon after the completion of his Junior High School studies in April 2007, Sam Okona announced to school mates that he considered rap as a soul, life, wife, book, talent and everything he had ever wished for in life as a young boy who writes his own raps (songs) through inspiration. In early September 2007, Sam Okona was admitted to Takoradi High School. He studied Business Management and other courses without leaving behind the music addiction. Sam Okona started pursuing his music career as a quizzer, comedian, and MC for which he even competed in a "Quiz Competition" against school mates in senior high school and won the Prize for the competition, specifically during his second year class in 2009 at the age of 17 and also in 2010. Sam Okona then went on to make his first Mixtape ''Check The Beans'' early February, 2009 which featured some of his school mates. The ''Check The Beans track'' gained a massive recognition and positive critics in the school and around the city as well. During that same year, he also featured in a friend's Mixtape entitled ''My Baby Mama''. In October 2010, after completing his Senior High School studies (Business Management, Economics, Typing, Computer, Office Duty etc.) he then joined his late parents back in Abidjan to pursue his music career. In March 2012, Sam Okona recorded his second Mixtape called ''Babi Conquer'' with the Instrumentals of Eminem's "No Love'' song. The ''Babi Conquer'' which was recorded in KC JARMA STUDIO at 2 Plateaux as a result also received a massive critic positively and negatively after his first performance in JOLLOF BAR - ARAS 2, Treichville which peaked at a higher position in most clubs. After two months later, Sam Okona recorded his first Dance floor/Electronic song entitled ''Eternity Love'' which also gained recognition but unlike his previous Mixtapes. After two years of silence, Sam Okona returned to the music scene early 2015 with an emotional, epic, sorrowful song dubbed ''Douleur '' which Featured his colleague Rodrigue Israel and (Jaden, the sound engineer; A member of the Ivorian-based Nigerian music group known as BTI BOSS) recorded in the month of March and released on the internet for free downloading and online streaming two weeks after. ''Douleur'', A song that aimed at pain, hustle, suffering, false accusations and allegations, hope and achieving success eventually gained much recognition all around of Abidjan more than all of his previous hits. Soon after the release of his single ''Douleur'', Sam Okona took it to another level by recording another inspiring song ''Dear Mama'' which Featured Rodrigue Israel and Capitaine Greg, purposely dedicated to the memory of his late Mother, Lost Souls and to all Mothers around the world. This time around, everybody who had listened to his "Dear Mama" automatically transformed into Music Love and became a fan of Sam Okona. The themes of most of Sam Okona's songs revolved around the violence and hardship in inner cities and other social problems. Both his parents are Ghanaian who traveled to Abidjan in search of greaner pastures and to prepare a good life for their children. His late Mother was a prophetess before she passed away of a serious sickness in July, 2014, whose ideals mostly reflects him in his songs. His late father also passed away in 2016. He is yet to release a song in memory of his late father as he had previously done in 2015 for his late mother. His current song is entitled "BEYONCÉ" of which he released on YouTube for streaming and downloading in August 2019.
